OK, I've spent quite a bit of time looking through these posts and I still have a couple of questions about distributing my app. What is the best "*.exe" creator for the money and How do I code registration keys? Are there any good examples...

I would now recommend not packaging the app as an .exe. Many firewalls and email virus checkers will prevent your users getting hold of it.

Better (though less tidy perhaps) to distribute it as a zip file with a setup program in it. Since winzip will unpack a zip file into a temporary directory and run an included setup program, the users never have to worry about unpacking things into different places and messing around.

So you just need Microsoft's cabwiz to make the cab file, a text editor to make the ini file, and some high level language to write a program to run CEAppMgr with the ini file name as a command line parameter. If you're willing to take a chance on the location of ceappmgr on the user's machine, you can just write a setup.bat file.

The good free .exe builder, ezsetup, required Windows NT to run.
